A capable body
Learn to move with purpose, use balance and leverage, and understand what your body can do. Technical practice gives physical effort a direction.

The Studio 100 method
We use the practice of Jiu Jitsu to develop skill, character and the way we relate to others. The technique gives us something to work on. The experience gives us opportunities to grow.
Our purpose
Learning a difficult movement, working with a partner and trying again after a setback are human experiences. At Studio 100, we give those experiences a clear structure and guide them with Courage, Honor, Integrity and Respect.
We want students to become capable practitioners who understand their responsibility to themselves and the people around them. The habits practised here can carry into school, work and family life.
Live the values, Honor the Lineage, Master the Art.

Technical progress and personal development grow through the same practice. A coach’s role is to make the learning clear, the environment respectful and the challenge appropriate.
Learn to move with purpose, use balance and leverage, and understand what your body can do. Technical practice gives physical effort a direction.
A difficult position asks you to pause, notice what is happening and choose your next action. Each attempt is a chance to practise patience, attention and problem-solving.
Keep a promise to your training partner. Acknowledge a mistake. Try again after a setback. Our values become meaningful through the choices we make in practice.
Learning happens with other people. Students practise communicating, sharing responsibility and helping a partner improve, while finding their own place in the academy.
Our values in practice
Values guide the decisions we make with our students and training partners. They belong in the details of every session.
Ask when you do not understand. Take on a suitable challenge. Return to a difficult skill with a willingness to learn.
Care for the art and the people who passed it on. Learn the principles behind a technique and represent the academy responsibly.
Be honest about your experience, your effort and your limits. Keep your commitments and take responsibility for your conduct.
Listen, protect your partner and recognise their boundaries. How you treat someone matters in every round and every class.
How learning happens
A recognisable structure helps you understand what you are learning and gives each session a connection to the next. Coaches adapt the teaching to the age, experience and needs of the group.
Know what you are working on and why it matters. A clear beginning helps students settle, pay attention and take part.
Your coach breaks the idea into manageable parts, explains the important details and gives you a practical starting point.
Work with a partner, receive feedback and explore the problem. The level of challenge should suit the students and the purpose of the session.
Recognise what improved and what needs another attempt. Bring a question into the next class and build on what you already understand.
Children & teens
Children need a teaching approach shaped around their age and experience. Movement, listening, partner work and clear boundaries create opportunities to participate with growing confidence.
Coaches help students recognise effort, learn from mistakes and care for others. For a young child, taking a turn or asking for help can be a meaningful step.

Technical milestones matter. So does noticing a problem sooner, staying thoughtful when a position becomes difficult, or helping a partner understand a detail.
Belts are part of the journey. Feedback, consistent practice and the way you conduct yourself help give the journey its meaning. Bring your questions to your coach and keep taking the next useful step.
